Code of Ethics / Standards of Conduct
As it Applies to Rescue Teams and their Members
Serving With TEERS-international
  1. Whenever people gather together to achieve goals, some rules of conduct are needed to help everyone work together efficiently, effectively, and harmoniously. The purpose of these rules is not to restrict your rights, but rather to be certain that you understand that proper conduct is expected and necessary.
  2. Generally speaking, we expect each person to act in a mature and responsible way at all times. However, to avoid and possible confusion, some of the more obvious unacceptable activities are noted below. a. Occurrences of any of the following may result in disciplinary action:
  • i. Willful violation of any Team rule; any deliberated action that is extreme in nature and is obviously detrimental to the Team's reputation and/or the Team's efforts to operate at maximum capacity.
  • ii. Willful violation of safety rules; tampering with Team equipment or safety equipment.
  • iii. Negligence or any careless action which endangers the life or safety of another person.
  • iv. Being intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance drugs while on duty; public consumption of alcoholic beverages while wearing clothing displaying the Team insignia or the insignia of any other team seconded to TEERS-international.
  • v. Unauthorized possession of dangerous or illegal firearms, weapons or explosives on Team rest areas or while on duty.
  • vi. Engaging in criminal conduct or acts of violence, or making threats of violence toward anyone on the Team or when representing the Team; fighting or provoking a fight when on a mission, or negligent damage of any property.
  • vii. Insubordination or refusing to obey instructions properly issued by Team Officers pertaining to your work; refusal to help out on a special assignment.
  • viii. Threatening, intimidating or coercing fellow members at any time, for any purpose.
  • ix. Engaging in an act of sabotage; willfully or with gross negligence causing the destruction or damage of Team property, or the property of other rescue units or their member's property in any manner.
  • x. Theft of Team property or the property of fellow members; unauthorized possession or removal of any Team property, including documents, from the premises without prior permission; unauthorized use of Team equipment or property for personal reasons.
  • xi. Dishonesty; willful falsification or misrepresentation on your application for membership or other Team records; alteration of Team records.
  • xii. Breach of confidentiality of personnel or patient information.
  • xiv. Immoral conduct or indecency when on a mission.
  • xv. Any act of harassment, sexual, racial or other at any time.
  • xvi. Excessive absence or lateness while on a mission.
  • xvii. Abusive language toward any officer, member, victim or public; indifference or rudeness toward a victim or fellow member; any disorderly/antagonistic conduct when on a mission.
  • xviii.Speeding or careless driving of any vehicle is prohibited when on a mission unless you are fleeing for your life.
  • xix. Failure to immediately report damage to, or an accident involving Team equipment.
  • xx. Failure to maintain a neat and clean appearance in conformance with the Dress Code.
  • xxi. Theft of any item from a incident will lead to immediate removal from the Team, incarceration and criminal prosecution under the laws of the host country.
  • xxii. All people will be treated with respect, at all times, regardless of their race, nationality, political views, religion or colour.
